Strong and stable, which is a rarity among honey fragrances. Great on its own, but eminently suited to blending -- try mixing it with other fragrances we offer to produce Honey Vanilla, Honey and Lemon, Honey and Orange Blossom, etc. BOTTOM LINE: Most honey fragrances simply vanish in soap, but this one's been fortified and is quite tenacious. Flashpoint: >200º F.

At long last -- our most-requested fragrance duplication! The exclusive, over-the-top Hotel Costes is located in the heart of Paris, and their house perfume -- in its deep red bottle with chunky glass stopper -- became an immediate cult classic upon its introduction in 2004. We received more requests to duplicate this super-complex, super-chic fragrance than any other. It took six months of tinkering and refining, but at long last, we're delighted to offer you our interpretation of this stunning blend (and if you've never smelled the real thing, you're in for an amazing treat!). Our blend opens with spicy green top notes of natural cypress, basil, cardamom, lemon, nutmeg, black pepper, and cinnamon oil. The top notes give way to a spicy floral middle of rose and jasmine along with essential oils of lavender and clove bud. The bottom notes of this fragrance -- which create an amazing accord that lasts and lasts -- consist of essential oils of sandalwood, cedarwood, and patchouli, sweetened with a bit of synthetic musk. This fragrance is truly unique -- it's almost like three fragrances in one as a medley of bright, green essential oils give way to an irresistible spice blend, which then leads to a long-lived, soapy clean, woodsy drydown. Stays stunning and true in cold-process soap! Flashpoint: >200º F.

Hyacinth is a fresh, white, clean, intense floral, and the quintessential scent of spring. After extensive searching and testing, this is the ONLY hyacinth fragrance we ever got our hands on that didn't mutate most hideously in cold-process soap -- this one stays true and strong. A delight in soaps, candles, and toiletries; delivers an almost unparalleled bang for the buck. PERSONAL NOTE: After buying many hyacinth plants that quickly drooped and died, now I don't bother -- a couple drops of Hyacinth fragrance on a cotton ball or vintage handkerchief and my powder room, guest room, and kitchen smell like a veritable greenhouse in April. Flashpoint: 162º F. While Hyacinth is outstanding on its own, it's also a terrific blender; here it plays a key part in a blend that we call "not your grandmother's rose fragrance": Elizabethan Rose 4 parts Sweet Cakes True Rose Fragrance 2 parts Sweet Cakes Lavender Breeze Fragrance 1 part Sweet Cakes Hyacinth Fragrance This blend is fresh and new, yet it has a romantic charm. It has the time-tested fragrance of roses, yet is loved by people who usually don't care for rose fragrances. And Hyacinth will brighten up any floral blend. This Elizabethan Rose blend will transport you into a summer garden on a warm breezy night. If you'd like to substitute a different rose scent, you can use 5 parts Sweet Cakes Rose Petals, or 3 parts Sweet Cakes Red Rose.

An icy blast of cool, clean scent guaranteed to make you sit up and take notice. Essential oils of eucalyptus and peppermint are combined with synthetic menthol to produce a mind-clearing, eye-opening humdinger. Cools you down in summer and heats you up in winter (I know that sounds impossible, but that's what they always say about down comforters, so I'm going with it . . .). Flashpoint: 141F. Here are some terrific Icecap Fragrance blending ideas: Citrus Ice 3 parts Sweet Cakes Clementine Fragrance 1 part Sweet Cakes Icecap Fragrance This citrus blend with a cool blast is great for hot summer days. It's truly a unisex blend -- men love it. Talk about a "wake you up in the morning" shower! You may want to adjust the Icecap, depending on how "cool" you want the blend to be. I don't recommend more than 5 parts Clementine to 2 parts Icecap, though. Also, try blending Icecap with your favorite Sweet Cakes fruity fragrance to give it a cool, icy feel. Even pear fragrances get a boost with a dash of Icecap!

A Sweet Cakes classic -- salty sea water, a kiss of kelp, and the clean scent of rain add up to a winning maritime combination! A great unisex combination of sea and rain notes -- very strong and "Atlantic seaboard." TIP FOR COLD-PROCESS SOAPMAKERS: For extra texture and aesthetic appeal, take 2 sheets of nori (the dried seaweed sheets used to wrap sushi), cut them up into little pieces with a scissors, and soak them in a tablespoon of hot water. At thin trace, stir the nori "slush" and colorants into your batch. Add .7 oz. of Karen's Ocean Rain fragrance per lb. of fats/oils, stir to incorporate, and pour into prepared molds. The nori will turn bright green, but will eventually fade to a very organic-looking golden yellow. Or -- do nothing but scent your plain soap, candles, or toiletries with Karen's Ocean Rain, and they'll still go over big. Flashpoint: 172º F.

Sparkling, lemon-y, irresistible! Our dead-on copy of an international best-seller. L'Occitane de Provence is a well-respected purveyor of fine soap and other high-quality body-care products. Verbena is their signature scent -- and with good reason, as its lemon-y freshness is a guaranteed day-brightener. Our very faithful reproduction begins with sparkling top notes of lemon, lemon, lemon and a little lime and peach, atop a base of rose, geranium, and green lemon leaves. The real secret to this fairly simple formula are the types of lemon oils used -- they're not cheap, but mon dieu! do they sparkle, scintillate, and dance. This fragrance is A-OK for use in CP soap (it turns it a pretty pale-yellow color) as well as all sorts of toiletries. The flashpoint makes it unsuitable for use in gel-wax candles, but it should work just fine in other types of wax. Flashpoint: 142º F

Not to sound like those cheesy ads for pseudo-designer body sprays, but it's true -- if you like our Lavender & Herbs fragrance or Sage, Sweetgrass & Cedar, you'll love Lavender & Cedar. Floral-woody top notes of lavender essential oil open the fragrance, along with natural oils of cedarleaf and rosemary. The theme continues with pure lavandin and cedarwood oils in the middle, leading to a sweet, earthy drydown thanks to essential oil of patchouli and a touch of musk. Flashpoint: 179º F. NOTE OF SPECIAL INTEREST: If you, as I, cherish your woollen garments and hate moths, try adding a capful of this fragrance to the rinse water when you wash woolly goodies. The lingering aroma -- besides being unappealing to moths -- is sheer heaven! Don't let me give you the impression that Lavender & Cedar is just for ski sweaters. Here's a terrific men's blend: Day at the Spa (masculine version) 2 parts Sweet Cakes Sapmoss (type) Fragrance 1 part Sweet Cakes Lavender & Cedar Fragrance Ooh la la, a day at the spa! This blend takes an already great fragrance (Sapmoss) and kicks it up a notch! Though you could use Lavender Breeze or lavender essential oil, the Lavender & Cedar gives the Sapmoss a cool, woody lift that is very masculine. While "Day at the Spa" may seem a little strong and too 'lavender-y' in the bottle, the final result in M&P soap, lotion, or shampoo/shower gel is a clean, woody, uplifting fragrance!

Lavender and chamomile essential oils are two of the most beloved of nature's essential oils, as they're both known to produce feelings of calm, peacefulness, and well-being. Our Lavender & Chamomile fragrance includes generous amounts of natural essential oils of lavender and chamomile, so that this blend, which smells delightfully soothing, herbal, and fresh, also offers the aromatherapy benefits of a pure essential oil version, but at a tiny fraction of the price. Because this scent contains no "perfumey" or "manufactured" notes, it's perfect for soap, candles, and any type of personal care product, like shampoo, lotion, and bath gel, for all ages and sexes. Truly a "universal" fragrance concept. Flashpoint: >200º F.

Our solution for people who like the idea of a lavender scent but find lavender essential oil a bit too medicinal or old-fashioned. The brilliant perfumer behind Lavender Breeze started with lavender EO but softened it with some airy, green top notes, then slipped in a floral heart of muguet and rose, and anchored the blend with musk and precious woods notes. The result? A unisex fragrance that's unmistakably lavender, but fresher and more appealing. Flashpoint: 173º F. Lavender Breeze is amazingly versatile; here it plays a key part in a blend that we like to refer to as "not your grandmother's rose fragrance": Elizabethan Rose 4 parts Sweet Cakes True Rose Fragrance 2 parts Sweet Cakes Lavender Breeze Fragrance 1 part Sweet Cakes Hyacinth Fragrance This blend is fresh and new, yet it has a romantic charm.
